How to Mark a Wireless Device as Away

When a wireless device leaves the building (with a resident), the system will alert you by raising a “Device Not Found (DNF)” message on the maintenance tab of the Vigil Remote software. To avoid this call, you can mark the device as away and enter a return date. When the device returns with the resident, it will automatically check back in and work. Keep in mind, it’s a good idea to test the device to ensure the battery is still working.

To mark a device as away:

• If you know a resident has left your community with their pendant (or chair sensor), log into the Vigil Remote software

• Click on Wireless Devices.

• Search for the device to mark as away. Place a checkmark on the left of the device which will highlight it.

• Click away from the bottom of the screen

• Choose the date you believe the resident will return. It’s best to put the date further out if you’re not sure (for example, if you believe they will return in about a week, go ahead and put two weeks) and click OK.

• There is nothing more you need to do. Once the resident returns with the device, it will check in automatically. If they are gone longer than the date you entered, you will get a DNF, and can mark it away.
